Acceleration
: Have the client run though the system. Note the speed and acceleration of each leg - faster and more efficient is the goal.
Down and back
: This test requires acceleration, deceleration, and re-acceleration. When compared to the acceleration only test, a greater amount of information can be extrapolated (e.g., if a client is a good accelerator but performs this test poorly, deceleration could be a concern).
Pure deceleration
: Symmetry is examined and each leg speed is recorded. Technique must be correct.
Ski and go
: Jump left, run right, jump right, run left. Initial contact is compared and speed at the third step is analyzed. If contact is quick and speed is high, eccentric/concentric is efficient.
Fall in each side
: Analysis of speed at the third step. A symmetrical reading gives a good idea of the symmetry of the athlete. An asymmetrical reading requires further evaluation (e.g. evaluate the one-legged jump, taking note of left/right power differentials and a possible correlation to the speed differential).
